Heygate Abstracted #02 / Print
London, UK, 2011
by Simon Kennedy
Visiting the Heygate Estate in South London for over a year, the resulting images of the empty and abandoned spaces are not part of a social documentary but an experiment in photography as architecture, using the camera and post-production processes to generate new spatial concepts. These photographs are not merely representations of an existing space but an attempt to create alternative spatial possibilities out of a current architectural site.
