The White City
Tel Aviv is effectively a collection of over 4,000 buildings built between the 1920s and the 1940s following the Bauhaus style. Many Jewish architects from Germany and other Central and East European countries, with German Cultural influences, migrated to Israel after the rise to power of the Nazis.
The so called White City has been included in the list of UNESCO heritage sites in 2003, due to the poor conservation status in which most of the Bauhaus buildings were. Since then, many have been restored and on several occasions extended following the strict conservation laws, offering a wide panorama of interesting projects that punctuate the fabric of the historic centre.
